Reza Salazar is an actor, musician and teaching artist. He began his acting career as a child in South America, working with his mother as clowns. Reza was just seen in Clyde’s on Broadway by the two-time Pulitzer prize winner playwright Lynn Nottage. He has acted in films, tv shows and numerous productions at the Public Theater and across the country at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., and Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. As a musician He has performed in parks, correctional facilities, community venues and at the legendary Joe’s Pub and Apollo Theater. Reza has worked as a teaching artist and storyteller at BAM, The Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art and Storytelling, Brooklyn Museum, The Hispanic Society Museum and Library, People’s Theater Project and his beloved community bookstore Word Up.
Rising in the Heights is a festival of free monthly outdoor public arts performances curated by Leadlights Ensemble in partnership with Word Up Community Bookshop. The festival celebrates the rich artistic contributions of Latinx and Black cultures and promotes children’s literacy through music and storytelling.
